Study Health & Social Care in Malta — Work While You Study

The programme is delivered by our partner institute in Malta, a licensed Further and Higher Education institution accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), with over 38 years of experience and 250,000+ students trained. Seven modules totalling 60 ECTS:

• • Module 7 – Supervised Placement, 200 hours (12 ECTS) — assessed via Reflective Journal

Modules 1–4 and 6 are assessed 40% group presentation/discussion and 60% written assignment. Module 5 (Infection Control) is assessed 40% presentation and 60% multiple-choice assessment. Module 7 (Placement) is assessed 100% on a Reflective Journal.

Delivery is a mix of face-to-face lectures, online tutorials, and hands-on practice at the Naxxar campus. Total learning hours are 280 contact hours, 200 supervised placement hours, 940 self-study hours, and 80 assessment hours, spread over one year part-time.

The cohort begins in the second half of October 2026 at the Naxxar Campus in Malta, with an additional intake in November 2026 if needed. A detailed academic calendar, timetable, and orientation schedule will be shared once the pilot cohort is confirmed. A further intake is planned for January – April 2027.

Part-time, modular, spread over one year in semesters — structured so candidates can also work part-time alongside their studies.

Existing care professionals and newcomers building a career in health and social care, particularly those aspiring to work as elderly/family carers (live-in), elderly carers or assistant nurses at elderly homes, and hospital health carers/nursing aides.

Qualifications such as GNM, BSc Nursing, Post Basic and higher secondary recognised vocational healthcare and non-healthcare professional qualifications are normally considered directly eligible. Diplomas such as Healthcare Assistant, Caregiver, Vocational Health Care, Nursing Assistant Certificate, or Practical Nursing Diploma are eligible on a case-by-case basis, subject to an English assessment, clinical knowledge assessment, interview, and document verification. Where necessary, additional equivalency assessment may be requested.

Formal experience is not mandatory if the candidate holds an eligible qualification, but experience in hospital, elderly care, home care, nursing home, rehabilitation, ICU, medical-surgical, or community health settings is viewed favourably during screening — elderly care, home care, and nursing home experience are especially preferred given the programme's focus.

Candidates from non-healthcare backgrounds must complete 15–20 hours of online training.

No IELTS/OET/PTE score is required. English competency is assessed through document review together with a short (10–15 minute) online English and motivation interview conducted by the DHS Admissions Team, covering self-introduction, motivation for care work, relevant experience, patient handling, and infection control basics.

Dynamic HealthStaff conducts the initial pre-screening of candidates against basic eligibility and qualification equivalency. Final admission decisions rest with the partner institute and include document verification plus an online admissions interview. Candidates are typically categorised as Eligible, Eligible with Training, Keep on Hold, or Not Eligible.

€6,500, which includes tuition, learning materials, assessments, placement, academic support, and final accredited certification.

Accommodation, travel, medical insurance, government fees, and personal living costs are not included.

Yes — a Visa Application & Administration Fee of €500, which is non-refundable.

Yes. Dynamic HealthStaff provides training to all medical and non-medical candidates before we apply for Malta, to brush up applicants' skills. The programme runs 2–4 weeks and includes:

50% of the programme fee is payable as a deposit on the Admission Letter, and the remaining 50% balance is payable on visa approval.

The programme fee is refunded in full in the event of visa refusal, in accordance with the partner institute's published refund policy and the Student Agreement. Separate conditions apply in the case of voluntary withdrawal.

Students apply under the Maltese Student Visa category.

Financial requirements are set by the competent Maltese authorities and may change from time to time. Guidance on the applicable requirements and documentation is provided during the admission process.

The Training/Student Visa issued is for the student only — accompanying family members cannot travel on the same visa. Any application involving family members is subject to current Maltese immigration policy and is assessed individually by the competent authorities.

A spouse or family member wishing to work in Malta would need to independently apply for a Working Visa through a prospective employer — this is arranged by that employer, not by Dynamic HealthStaff or the partner institute.

Any future residence rights remain entirely subject to Maltese immigration legislation and the eligibility criteria in force at the time.

Yes. Subject to Maltese immigration and employment regulations, international students may work part-time for up to 20 hours per week, separate from the 200 supervised placement hours.

Typical Maltese care-sector wages are approximately €10–12/hour. At up to 20 hours/week this can be roughly €1,000–€1,200/month, helping offset living costs — actual earnings depend on the employer and role.

No — no stipend is payable during the 200-hour supervised placement period, as this is a structured, assessed part of the qualification rather than paid employment.

A mandatory 200-hour supervised placement, organised by the partner institute with approved healthcare and elderly-care facilities, typically concentrated in the final two months of the programme (approximately 30 hours/month). It is supervised, assessed, and forms an integral, credit-bearing part of the qualification (12 of the 60 ECTS).

Placement itself is guaranteed as part of the course. Placement partners have historically shown strong interest in retaining successful students as employees, subject to operational needs and Maltese employment law, and the programme is designed to support a smooth transition from study into work.

Graduates are equipped for roles such as elderly/family carer (live-in), elderly carer or assistant nurse at elderly homes, and hospital health carer/nursing aide. Placement partners and other Maltese healthcare/elderly-care employers have shown consistent interest in retaining successful graduates.

Entry-level pay is typically in the same approximately €10–15/hour range as during study, which on a standard full-time schedule is in the region of €2,500–€3,000/month. Actual salary depends on the employer, role, and experience, and is set by the employer — not by Dynamic HealthStaff or the partner institute.

Placement partners have consistently shown interest in retaining successful graduates, and the part-time work rights during study mean candidates build real local experience and income well before graduation.

Where mutually agreed, students who secure employment may continue with the same employer after completion. The employer must apply for the appropriate post-study working visa arrangements; this is subject to employer requirements and Maltese immigration/employment legislation.

Yes. In Malta, an MQF Level 3 qualification is generally the recognised benchmark entry qualification for the Health and Social Care sector. This programme is accredited at MQF Level 4 & 5 (60 ECTS) — a step above that benchmark — giving graduates a stronger platform for further study and for enhanced employment opportunities and career progression, subject to employer requirements and applicable legislation.

No. Accommodation is the student's own responsibility and is separate from tuition fees. Malta offers a range of options — shared apartments, private residences, hostels, and other rentals at varying price points.

Upon request, the partner institute can provide general guidance and publicly available information about accommodation options in Malta. However, the final choice, booking, and any contractual arrangements remain entirely the student's own responsibility.
